Not too bad. Attended a surprise party there, food good, the Party room was a marquee with glass sliding doors at one side. Heated. Bar was set up, but if you wanted some drinks you had to go to the main bar area.
Lovely food, fantastic service. Would definitely recommend
Went here for Sunday Lunch as it was the only place open (hence an additional star). The staff were busy on their phones moaning loudly about how bored they were and how they hoped to finish soon.We had chicken pie with vegetables that had been so over cooked they were brown mush...great for wallpapering, not so good for a nice meal.My advice is go further afield, or go hungry.Edited reviewRemoved a star due to your defensive response, which absolutely confirms I had the right pub!!!
Visited a week ago for Sunday lunch. My partner and I both had the chicken and MUSHROOM pie. The pie was ok but the veggies well over cooked. The staff were more interested in their phones and wishing their shifts away than to appear helpful or busy at work. I hear on the grapevine that theyre not meant to have their phones with them...weird. The thatched roof is long over due replacement.
This was my first visit and it most certainly will not be my last. The menu was perfectly formed, with just enough options. The service was spot on and the waitress was very helpful and friendly. After ordering, the food arrived within about 20 minutes. I ordered a Steak and Stilton pie, with chips and mushy peas, as Mondays are pie night. The portion was generous and the food cooked to perfection, as everything was homemade. The steak was lovely and soft, with just enough Stilton as to not overpower it. After finishing my main course, I ordered bread and butter pudding, with cream and custard! Whilst the portion was just enough, the bread was not sufficiently cooked, and therefore was not crisp, the taste of it was good. The pricing of the meal was very reasonable for the excellent quality of the food. Two main pie dinners came to 14 and all the deserts were under 4 each. The decor of the pub is modern, mixed with an older style cottage- it works really well. I really recommend a visit. Thanks to the staff at the Pied Bull Inn for a most enjoyable evening.
